Jingu Kougou (Empress Jingu)

Jingu Kougou is worshipped as a deity of war for she was a gifted Miko (woman who serves the Gods) and a brave warrior who fought battles even while pregnant. This scroll was painted soon after the 2011 Tohoku disaster. A severely wounded dragon had come to her and said "The people of Japan are in grave crisis." Looking about the ruins she responded "People! Do not look down! Rise! Snow will turn into cherry blossom if you will!"
